Big tax defaulters will be targeted first. Action will be taken in old civic areas as well as in newly merged villages, said officials. Zonal-level teams have been formed. They will start sending notices to defaulter from next week. A deadline will be given to property tax owners within which they should clear their dues. If they fail to do so, the civic administration will snap their water connections.

INDORE: Local administration has put a ban on sale, purchase, and transfer of land in as many as 14 villages of Kanadia and Sanwer tehsil, where marking has been carried out to acquire land for Indore-Budani broad gauge rail project. Indore ADM Pavan Jain, in his order, has instructed the sub-divisional officer (SDO, revenue) and the land acquisition officer of Kanadia and Sanwer tehsil immediately put a ban on sale, purchase and transfer of land that has been marked to lay down a broad-gauge railway track for Indore-Budhani rail project.

A document entry, which should ideally take 10 minutes is taking two hours now, turning the entire experience into a long-drawn one," as a citizen said.

The high court of Bombay at Goa has directed state authorities to look into statements by Goa River Sand Protectors Network of illegal sand mining taking place, and ascertain whether sand mining is indeed being carried out at the spots indicated by it. At Chandor, the sand extraction is being carried out in River Kushawati near the Cotta Railway Bridge. Besides this, sand mining activities are also ongoing at Bicholim, Chorao Island, Talarna in Pernem and Revora in Bardez.

Kolkata and its suburbs recorded the second-highest registration of residential sale documents since the introduction of stamp duty cut a year ago. Only in August 2021 were more documents registered than July 2022. With the extended incentive period due to get over this September, realtors and developers expect the high sales to continue and result in even more registrations at the state directorate of registrations and stamps revenue.

"Sufficient opportunity" was given to these property owners to pay the tax, but they did not heed to the show. Two properties -- Anand Vatika and Sonam Vatika -- situated on the main road in Bapraula did not pay property tax from 2004. Similarly, a property at Chanakya Place Part-1, Uttam Nagar, had total accumulated dues of Rs 16,93,440, excluding interest and penalty, the statement said.

At present, the NMC uses the BPMS software — provided by the state government — for online submission and approval of the building plans. But the builders face some technical issues with the submission and approval of the plans. “On the contrary, the AutoDCR software is good and carries out the process of submission and approval of the building plans online. Hence, this will help the civic body to speed up the online process,” said an NMC official.
