The names of 600 big property tax defaulters have been made public by the Nashik Municipal Corporation as a part of its name-and-shame drive. The civic body has uploaded the list of the defaulters on its official website and requested them to clear their dues at the earliest. These 600 defaulters owe over Rs 40 crore to the civic body — ranging from Rs 1 lakh to over Rs 20 lakh each.

India Cements Ltd has entered into a pact to sell its entire stake in Springway Mining Private Limited (SMPL) to JSW Cement for a total consideration of Rs 476.87 crore. SMPL owns limestone-bearing land at Panna district and is in the process of setting up a cement plant at Damoh district in Madhya Pradesh.

Adani group is in talks to buy the cement businesses of debt-laden Jaypee Group for about Rs 5,000 crore as the conglomerate helmed by the richest Asian consolidates its presence in a sector it entered a few weeks back. Jaypee group had sold its cement business to UltraTech but a few units were still housed in group firms.

A consumer commission has ordered ICICI Bank to pay Rs 55,000 compensation to a couple, whose original documents related to their property were misplaced by the bank and they were not informed about the missing documents for long. The case involved Himanshiben and Chaitanya Soni having a house in Umiyavijay Society in Jodhpur area.

Starting from the first day of Navratri, the sub-registrar offices in the state witnessed a heavy rush for registration of property sale deeds as this period is considered auspicious for purchasing new properties. The officer has also ordered each sub-registrar office to issue 61 appointment tokens daily. There are 43 sub-registrar offices in the state that register property sale deeds, and 12 of these offices are in Ahmedabad.

Cracking the whip against defaulters, the UT estate office has recovered Rs 85 crore in outstanding dues since April this year. The dues pertain to unpaid rent on leasehold properties, penalties on misuse of properties and building violations. Some of these dues were pending for last more than a decade.

Only about 10% of the developers who had got their building plans approved by the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) since 2004 have obtained completion certificates (CCs). Data shared by the GDA showed that it had approved 2,253 building layouts in the past 18 years. But only 221 of these projects have CCs till date.

Delhi Lt Governor V K Saxena launched a web-based portal for digital management of land records of Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and stressed on minimum human interface for such work. The portal 'Land Management Information System' (LMIS) is also aimed at effective and efficient management and protection of DDA land records.
