Nearly 5% of Chandigarh housing board small flats illegally occupied: Survey

Nearly 5% — 895 — of the total 18,138 houses allotted by Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) under rehabilitation, small flat and affordable rental housing schemes, have been found to be illegally occupied. According to the survey, 1,268 (7%) were found locked and in 130 cases, the occupants denied to give any information to the CHB officials, 211 were with the government departments, three were found vacant and four sealed by CHB.

Birla Estates buys 10 acre land in Bengaluru for housing project

Realty firm Birla Estates has acquired 10 acres of land in Bengaluru and will develop a housing project with expected sales potential of Rs 900 crore. ​Birla Estates Pvt Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Century Textiles and Industries Ltd has acquired a 10-acre land parcel at Raja Rajeshwari Nagar, South Bengaluru.

Avendus Capital leases 1 lakh sq ft in Mumbai's BKC

Financial services group Avendus Capital has picked up nearly 1 lakh sq ft office space in commercial tower Platina in Mumbai’s business district Bandra-Kurla Complex through a long-term lease of five years with the property developer Wadhwa Group. The company will be paying average monthly rentals of Rs 278 per sq ft including the rental escalation.

Entertainment City promoters in talks to sell Noida land for Rs 2,000 crore

Promoters of Entertainment City Ltd, which operates The Great India Place, Gardens Galleria Mall, Worlds of Wonder amusement park and Kidzania in Noida, are in talks to sell the entire 147-acre development for about ₹2,000 crore. Entertainment city is promoted by the Appughar and Unitech groups and there is vacant land that the new buyer can develop.

LG steps in, Delhi development authority sells 870 Narela flats in 15 days

Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has sold 870 out of total 1,281 previously ‘unsold’ flats in Narela in the last 15 days on first come, first served basis after the intervention of lieutenant governor VK Saxena. DDA has been offering 509 LIG and 772 EWS flats at Narela on a first come, first served basis, for which it has received 1,940 registrations and 870 flats — 619 EWS and 251 LIG flats — have already been sold.

M&M Financial leases 275,000 sq ft office space near BKC, Mumbai

Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services has leased nearly 275,000 sq ft office space in Piramal Realty's commercial complex Agastya Corporate Park in central Mumbai's Kurla locality near business district Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC). The company will be paying monthly rental of ₹2.50 crore, taking the total pay out to around ₹270 crore.

Punjab government working on ways to deal with building violations

The AAP government is now trying to find ways to deal with unregulated constructions, especially in cases of non-compoundable changes. The previous government had fallen back on announcing one-time settlement (OTS) schemes for building violations, but its move had failed to generate the expected response. OTS made more sense for compoundable violations, but in the majority of cases, people had made drastic changes in approved building plans and it was not possible to regularise them.

The Haryana real estate regulatory authority (HRERA) imposed a penalty of Rs 12 lakh on ISH Realtors for selling properties in a commercial project without obtaining licence from the concerned department. ​Sale and purchase of properties in Vatika India Next 2 project have been restricted due to non-compliance of the RERA Act, said K K Khandelwal, chairman, RERA.

Guwahati civic body to outsource property tax collection job

The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) is mulling over outsourcing the task of collecting property tax to a private entity and has also floated tenders inviting bids for the same. This was revealed by urban affairs minister Ashok Singhal. He said about 40% of around 3 lakh households in the city do not pay taxes.
