JSW Group’s flagship company JSW Steel has acquired a land parcel spread over 30.5 acres in Pen, around 4 km away from its existing 10 million tonne per annum (MTPA) integrated steel plant at Dolvi in Pen near Mumbai. Company has purchased the land parcel for Rs 23.22 crore and had paid nearly Rs 14.82 crore as advance payment towards the same in December 2018.

In Chennai there has been a 39% increase in new residential project launches and a 38% increase in sales between July and September. In the past three months, scores of people have booked or bought flats in these areas. Builders are on a spree to complete more such projects, but residents in the areas complain of not seeing a proportionate growth in the civic infrastructure.

Indian Railways has decided to club real estate monetisation with the proposed redevelopment of 16 stations, including Anand Vihar in Delhi, and Thane, Tambram, Dadar, Kalyan and Andheri in Mumbai, reverting to its earlier plan. This railway station land monetisation will help the private players earn a return on the expenditure incurred in modernising the stations.

Authorities in Delhi have issued 253 challans and imposed a cumulative fine of Rs 32.4 lakh on user agencies that did not comply with dust control norms. User agencies of construction and demolition projects larger than 500 square metres are required to register them on the construction and demolition (C&D) portal.

Three of the six bidders who have evinced interest in the Rs 23,000-crore Dharavi redevelopment project will certainly qualify. The last date for submission of bids is October 31. The Union railway ministry had signed a definitive agreement with the Dharavi Redevelopment Authority to hand over 47.5 acres of railway land in Dadar for the redevelopment project.

Going by the momentum in housing sales in the ongoing festive period and that of of the first three quarters this year, total housing sales will exceed 3.6 lakh units in the seven cities in 2022. The January-September period of 2022 housing sales and new launches surpass the full-year readings of 2019 with approx. 2.73 lakh units sold in 9M 2022 and new launches at 2.65 lakh units.

The development of around four lakh square metres of land at prime locations across Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad civic limits would be governed by the Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MMRCL) or MahaMetro. The state government has now given "special planning authority status" to MahaMetro to look after these lands "in larger public interest".

The Housing Department has appealed to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy for immediate release of Rs 2,361 crore to make progress in the construction of houses under the Pradhan Mantri Aawas Yojana. The Government of India has already released Rs 4,032 crore under PMAY-U but the AP government released only Rs 2,556 crore,now diverting another Rs 1,476 crore.
